September 25th, 2005: Griffons Fall to Toledo
The Battle Creek Griffon Rugby Club suffered a road defeat against a strong and experienced Toledo Celtics team in Toledo. I don't have the final score, but coach Al Houser reports that Michael Barroso had a strong game at hooker, stealing the opponents ball at the scrum and making tackles around the field in loose play. Al mentioned that Sergio put in some big tackles playing on the wing. Travelling short handed to an away game put the Griffons behind from the start, and they were unable to put enough phases of play together to overcome a veteran Celtics team.
The next game is at Fort Wayne on Saturday October 1st.
