Griffon RFC News - 04/30/05
May 1st, 2005: For those Griffons who went on the Scottish tour in 1998, a couple of the teams we played have made it through to two finals which were played at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. Greenock Wanderers made it to the BT Bowl final, and Murrayfield Wanderers made it to the Bowl Shield. Here are a couple of links with info - www.sru.org.uk and Greenock Wanderers website.
April 30th, 2005: Battle Creek Griffons 0 - Michiana 45 : Another road trip for the Griffons, and again only some of the club committed to travelling. Michiana, another Division III team in transition this year, pulled together a strong side for their home game. Coach Al Houser reported that the Griffons played well in the second half, but that the Michiana pack were quicker to the ball, allowing them to retain possession. Al praises Gary Goidosik for his willingness to travel, and wishes that other backs in the club would show that same commitment. On a brighter note, it was a multi-generational turnout for Battle Creek, with Jake Akert, Luke Houser, and TJ Crocker following in the footsteps of their "Griffon Hall Of Fame" fathers for this game.
