Griffon RFC News - 04/02/05

April 2nd, 2005: Battle Creek Griffons 0 - Kalamazoo Dogs 27

The Division III Griffons travelled to our close neighbors, the Kalamazoo Dogs.
Kalamazoo play Division II rugby,one level above the Griffons, and the higher level of fitness and experience held them in good stead.
Scrums and lineouts were even, with a special mention to Griffon MVP Joe Spinelli who stole 4 scrums against the head during the game. This is equivalent to 4 possession turnovers.
Kalamazoo's extra experience became apparent at the breakdown area, where their fitness allowed them to retain possession and to turnover Griffon ball in the tackle.
The Griffons' stout defence kept Kalamazoo at bay, and the young Griffon team will have picked up valuable experience from this game.
